Post your results!

I would be interested to know whether SS members "Clump" anywhere on the chart and whether "Pro" and "Anti" camera members "Clump" in diferent areas (IYSWIM)

To get the ball rolling I appear to be (Interetingly, since I had always thought of myself as "Libertarian right");

Economic L/R -3.25
Social L/A 2.26

Oh, and I am anti-camera

:)

(Edited to include link! )

I got:

Economic Left/Right: 1.63 (right leaning)
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.62 (defo libertarian)

Scrap all speed cameras! But on the basis of evidence, not faith.

I think the reason for my result is because though I am a big believer in personal freedom and personal responsibility I also believe the State should play a rather more "Pro-active" role in economic issues "Of national importance" (EG leaving such thigs as energy supplies to the vaguries of the "Free market" is a big mistake!) Unfortunatly neither Quizes of this nature (Nor the electoral process for that matter) can handle these fine nuances terribly well.

When I last did this, my results were:

Economic Left/Right: +2.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.72

There aren't any questions on transport, though, nor really on "lifestyle freedom" issues.

I think people with that combination of views aren't at all properly represented by contemporary British political parties.

Well so far, on the basis of a sample of three! :D (Cmmon, more please :) ) all we can reliably say is that *nobody* is in the top right corner where the "Establishment" wants us to be!

I appear to have become even more libertarian and left!

Last year:

Economic Left/Right: -6.63
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.23

This year:

Economic Left/Right: -8.13
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.38

Ah well, come the revolution...

(I note the questions have changed since Sept 05 by the way!)

My results!

Economic Left/Right: 1.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 3.23

I thought I might have been a little more to the right on the Economic scale and a little less Authoritarian but there you have it.

Apparently the leading figure I most resemble is Jaques Chirac

Was anyone else slight disturbed by the lack of a 'don't care / neutral / neither agree nor disagree' option to the answers? There were at least 8 questions where my personal answer was, 'well, it depends'.

I don't remember it being so difficult last time...

I agree with Paul. There is no "agnostic" option for each question. There were a few where I really genuinely didn't agree or disagree!

Made me laugh though! I've had people tell me in the past that I'm slightly right of Atilla the Hun so I was quite surprised by the results. As a Catholic, however, I was quite pleased to have ended up nearer John Paul II than Hitler so there's maybe some hope for me after all!

I wonder whether (and I don't exclude myself from this!) people tend to fill in these questionnaires with answers that are influenced by what they believe to be right and worng - i.e. reflect the values they were brought up with. Then in real life, when an issue is going to have a negative effect on them personally, they sometimes vote a bit differently?

I felt the questions were posed by someone more sympathetic with the left than the right, in that the leftist statements had a genuine feel to them, where a lot of the rightist statements such as

Quote:
In a civilised society, one must always have people above to be obeyed and people below to be commanded.

left me with impression that someone who didn't believe them had thought them up with a deadline in mind.

For the record I was slightly right liberal.

I think the questions were written by a "pinko-liberal" rather than a leftist ;)
