His latest in "Bolton Evening's" letters

Of cource ... we do agree with

Quote:

KEEP DANGER DRIVERS OFF ROAD

You know .. lot of us signed a petition by the Day and Saunders families to increase sentences for the hit and runs. Those families posted here and they know they got the support.. tangible support from many on this board at the time. They joined in the debates and I have the greatest respect for these families as they were not "blaming" all who use a motorised form of transport ,- buit rather those persons who never get copped by camera and who escape justice because of a reduced police presence in general.

We are not just talking trafpol..

be honest.

When was the last time you spotted that Bobby on his beat on a road near where you live?

But Ramsay's latest?

:?

I think it's in response to a recent "rural" Bolton tragedy in which a young woman died when her horse spooked when they were crossing a road.

It seems that Bolton council plan to build a new bridleway for the town's horsey folk.

In reply the local Road peace bloke .Allan Ramsay - . who is a prolific letter writer to cycling mags.. and maybe cycling and T2K fora  writes

Quote:

fo a council to make a bridleway for all areas (article "Too many horseriders killed of Aug 18) is an impossibility.

Yep - cannot disagree .. it is impossible just as it's impossible to make cycle lanes out of normal existing roadways..

Allan - know you must lurk..  Tis "moth around the candle" stuff for guys like you after all

We know a cheap paint job and a scam do not maketh a safe road..

We all know deep down that educating all road users to be careful and for all on wheels to be that extra vigilant towards anything on legs and for anything with four and more wheels to be more considerate to those on two wheels and more so if pedal powered  ..is really the right answer.

Yes .. we know what you mean when you say the following - and .. believe me .. I have had arguments a-plenty over stupid cycle lane paint... pot holes.. debris on cycle routes.. speed humps.. and downright jobsworthy stupidity :hissyfit: :banghead:

I do note though that you choose to miss out the poor old motor biker and my wife and other bikers on here will be "gutted"

Quote:

With so many roads in desperate need of repair - potential death traps for those on bicycles, mopeds and scooters.. there are not enough resources and funds availble

But surely ... if road safety is the issue .. then those who profess to be "road safety partnerships" should fix these roads before buying more scams

Allan goes on to rant..

Quote:

What isn't impossible is to take inconsiderate and dangerous drivers off the road

Once upon a time.. before the speed cams which Allan thinks are just great.. this used to happen. Now it just does not happen. What happens is this.//

The safe blipper and RK gets copped .. pays up and then gets banned under tot-up. If the person lived in Lancs prior to 2005 re-vamp of tolerances - they'd get banned for 5 blips of 34 mph (having saved one life too late in the speed course.. story of person who was banned because he blipped a speed limit past a forest of 5 spaced cams at 34/35 mph on one journey as he drove along that road towards the M55 at a steady safe 33/35 mph

The dangerous guy avoids the scam.. slows perfectly for the scam or just does not bother as he is not the RK .. he nicked the car .. so "not his problem" and even if he collides and kills.. he runs and his shadowy character sinks into the oblivion of the criminal twilight zone.

To cop these ... you need cops out there. You, Allan, like us all, are being short changed. The difference between us? We know that automation is fundamentally flawed as it cannot cop the really seriously dangerous.

Yes .. we agree about those using hand held mobile phones as well and those who fiddle with their gadgets all the time. You set before hand and you either switch off phone or use hands free. Personally - I swithc mine off. I like my freedom. Like my wife.. I love to feel my car and really drive her on the way home.

My cars are my "harem" 8-) :D My wife refers to hers as her "bit of toy boy rough" :rotfl: I think most on this board appreciate what I "put up with" Wimmin like Wildy    But hey - we have to have our fun!
