That would be regressive. Rich toffs could speed as much as they liked...

Why the social stigma? Toffs? What about the nouveau riche?

I agree with your basic point.

To keep things simple (and prevent keep up with the Jones'isms) I have a basic political rule of thumb. If you have more than me, you're a toff and should pay more tax, and if you have less than me, good luck unless you're a slacker, in which case you deserve nothing.

Out of interest do you think you should be paying more tax?

Is this good, or does it imply that standardised replies will be discounted?

What a load of old tosh!

Sounds more like envy to me because you didn't pay attention at school and ended up working at McDonalds as the junior burger flipper, while the kid next to you actually bothered to learn something and found himself a well paid job.

Yes, I may have started as a junior burger flipper, but I worked my way up to senior burger flipper after 30 years! What are you, a janitor?

Interesting -- ok, anyone want to take a bet on what their decision will be, judging from the summary?

A fiver says they will implement it exactly as they proposed in the consultation document, except they will remove the lower penalty in 30 mph limits.

EDIT: How come they didn't mention the SafeSpeed response in the "Road Safety organisations" section?
