If people having reportedly less accidents per the prats in their crusade to tell us how brilliantly they are doing to reduce accidents und collisions.. then why ist Norwich Union hiking up premiums by 40% for the youngsters und 16% for everyone else

because

Quote:

We have had a lot of claims this year as more people have had accidents

Someone somewhere between the lot of them ist not being straight as per usual

Reportedly rest are to follow suit..

My insurance has just gone up by 14% despite making no claims in the year, and a trawl round the internet failed to beat it significantly :(

Its just norwich union losing custom because they are crap. I renewed mine recently and I WAS with NU. Their renewal quote came back £50 more expensive than last year dispite the fact that I just turned 25 and I now have 4 years NCD. I managed to renew for just over half what they'd quoted.

Had the same here for the old lady Sixy...

Last year she paid £332 fully comp with NU, this years 'automatic renewal' (WTF is that about anyway?) came in at a whopping £512  despite no claims or convictions.

A quick phone call to ask them if they had been taking my share of the class A's as well as their own resulted in the price being dropped down to £430 instantly.

Still not content with that (why am I paying almost £100 more the following year?), I too trawled the internet and got the price down to £322 with a company called Quinn Direct.
Not only is that the best price I have got for her, but the excess this time around is £0 which is far better than NU's offering of £150 which was in force last year.

Funny thing was, I did an online quote with NU after their renewal price came through, the online quote price was.........are you ready..........£361

@Wildy,

I was given that very excuse whenI questioned why the old lady's premium had gone up so much.
Strangely enough, they couldn't provide an answer when I asked why the old lady should be paying for mistakes made by other road users.

Gixxer - I had the same trouble with huge excesses with NU too. Couple that with the fact that they changed my policy wording without telling me that resulted in me driving uninsured for 6 months AND the fact that I personally don't care to deal with call centres who don't have english as a 1st language....

You going to Stormin' this weekend?

Same here, and indeed WTF is automatic renewal?! I certainly have not given them permission to charge my card again, especially since they have massively hiked my premium.

I was paying about £340 a year, they have increased it to £540! Thats absurd, as if I would allow them to automatically renew!

A quick preliminary search on confused.com allowed me to find atleast 10 insurers who would insure me for around the £350 mark, incidently all with superior cover inc business use.

Part of me thinks they give low quotes out to get new customers then after insuring them for a year increase their premiums by 50% hoping some people will renew automatically and not notice the hike!

Oh don't get me started on that, nothing gets up my breathing passages more than having to repeat myself god knows how many times because Mujabir doesn't have even a basic grasp of English.

I ddi notice though that when NU were taking my money last year, they had no problem in routing my call to an English based call centre.

Unfortunately not, this is the last weekend that the kids have off before they go back to school so we are taking them camping on Hayling Island and (hopefully) teach them a few basic outdoor skills.
