:( was driving along the M4 today at 70, there was a very short section of roadworks with no signs indicating any speed restriction, so proceeded at 70 until i noticed a car in the middle lane slowing down for a speed camera, now i managed to get my speed down to about 60mph the same speed as the middle lane car, then noticed the "national speed limit applies" sign about 100 metres ahead, showing the end of the roadworks, i really hope that there wont be a ticket on my doormat in the next few weeks.

Has anyone else noticed that particular section its around the swindon/reading area??

Yes, in fact I'll be going that way (and back) later today. Although signs warn of speed cameras, I don't think there are any, but I'm not sure. Will post back later.

They've been removing the speed limits when the road works are not actually there (shock horror!!!). We came along there on the Sunday before bank holiday monday and all the 50 limit signs were folded over and the scameras bagged.

My God, this can't be true! Removal of a speed limit and enforcement when the hazard has been removed - whatever next! :o :)

How on earth are they going to raise the cash now?

Yes! On Friday, I didn't see a single scamera between J15 and J10 of the M4, in either direction. And...

...I've just come back from Lancs, a journey that took me through the M40 roadworks near Banbury. Road Angel warned of the three scameras, but on the S-bound side, they've all been removed!

Ah yes, but they have been faffing about with 3-4 50 sections in Berks/Wilts for over a year now. And the speed cameras are powered by generators when the type approval states mains power - so any tickety thing is as usefull as fudge
