First of all, can I say hi as I am new to these forums. I have been on Pepipoo and ABD for a while now, but SafeSpeed is a new venture.
This post is really for anyone living in the Wakefield/Leeds area, and concerns the proposed new scamera positions that the West Yorkshire Scamera Partnership have tabled. As on of these proposed sites is just minutes away from my home, I will be fighting the proposals tooth and nail, and generally attempt to make life for the scamera partnership as difficult and painful as possible.
Apparently, (the actual number is a rumour from a copper), the partnership is planning to erect between 4 and 8 fixed position cameras on the Ossett Bypass (the A638 from J40 of the M1). This very safe, straight bypass used to be NSL, but was recently dropped to 50 mph. The talivans now haunt this dual-carriageway regularly, probably because most motorists cannot believe that this road is not NSL!!
The second lot of ATM machines are to be erected on the A653 Leeds Road, between Shaw Cross and Woodkirk. Again this is a VERY straight dual-carriageway, which I do not believe has a history of fatal accidents.
Anyone who lives in or around this area, watch out for a yellow box coming to a road near you soon!
