I got this in my email today:

Quote:
... They explained I would receive a notice of penalty from court, the fine will increased from £60 to £90, that there was nothing I could do until I received this notice and that I should telephone the court explaining the circumstances once I did receive this notice.

8th November
- Received notice of penalty demanding payment of £90. Interesting this letter explicitly says "£90 within 14 days from 01/11/2004". The notice is dated 1st November, but again, I only received this notice today - on the 8th November!...

Has anyone heard of a £90 speeding fixed penalty? What the hell is going on here?

Yeah, if offered an FPN following a pull by a real-life traffic cop, they can add 50% to the fine if not paid within a certain number of days. It's in the RTA somewhere.

If it was a GATSO/LTi20/20 offence where the person wasn't pulled over at the time, they can't do this.
