Of course it's probably all been covered on here before, however being completely frank, I'm lazy and couldn't be bothered ciphering through the hundreds of posts to see if I am blowing smoke up everyone's butt over a subject that's been done to death.

I notice my older bro has been squawking away on this forum for a short time (he alerted me to its existence) so I figured I would see what silly little ditties he felt like getting off his chest. What I found was that my brother actually sounds semi intelligent (I wish he did in person). By the way, bro is M3RBMW. But enough of these ramblings.

All I wanted to ask was is there anyone out there with enough clout to be able to bash our idiotic bureaucrats over the head; beating them to a pulp in an attempt to get some sense out of them. I mean they all seem like senseless imbeciles who are so out of touch with reality and have no idea what's going on around them.

The reality with the Australian Government is that they typically take to heart whatever the minority groups crap on about, leaving the silent majority to mumble in their beards while all of the sulking, chest beating and so forth is carried out by a bunch of tree huggers and oldies who think that a vehicle capable of speeds higher than 30mph is absolutely outrageous. Motorsport should of course be banned for the drivel that it is; idiots screeching tyres, performing crazy stunts, driving at ridiculous speeds, destroying the ozone layer and of course killing themselves and a few spectators along the way.

Getting back to the point at hand, revenue raising, and well, I just wanted to have a big dip at how the Australian Government (and I assume many others around the globe) are going about 'stopping or reducing road deaths'. Placing speed cameras wily nilly is tantamount to destroying many areas of the economy. Take me for example, as a motoring journo cum all round good guy, I must have a licence - obviously. But hey, thanks to these annoying speed cameras whereby I lose a point here for being 2mph over, another there for 3 mph over, and walla, there goes the licence down the proverbial gurgler.

Umm, so what does a scribe do? He gets his partner to drive him around. But what if said scribe lacks a partner. Does he a) take a chance and drive illegally? or b) give up his ticket and work for the Government (on the doll).

Bottom line; literally thousands of Aussie motorists are losing their licences for doing absolutely crazy things like going 2mph over the speed limit. These many lost licences result in a dent to the economy thanks to people either losing their jobs or taking a sabbatical until getting their licence back (we don't have great public transport over here so getting to the city for work can be difficult). Either way we're stuffed.

My simple question is, how do we stop this lunacy?

Welcome. I'm fighting speed camera policy full time in the UK, and my strategy is simple. I'm fighting back with facts and analysis. It's all about proving that this corrupt policy is concentrating on an unimportant parameter, while ignoring the things that really do matter.

A good place to start is:
http://www.safespeed.org.uk/againstcameras.html

As a journalist you'll be interested in:
http://www.safespeed.org.uk/prindex.html

Two things form the foundations of the policy.

Firstly there's a key set of false and oversimplified beliefs:
http://www.safespeed.org.uk/conspiracy.html

Secondly there's a vested interest (camera manufacturers, installers, importers, operators, distributors) who are desperate to support the oversimplified beliefs. They spend plenty of cash in their efforts to convince politicians and so on that "anything less than covering the country with cameras would be irresponsible."

Built on top of the false and oversimplified beliefs are a series of supporting lies:
http://www.safespeed.org.uk/lie.html

The web site is now 350,000 words or so. Have a browse, and let me know anytime I can help.

What mistake?

I think you should take another look dear older brother.

As to your avator, it really does show what you are all about; an absolute hoon with no repsect whatsoever for the processes involved in the manufacture of tyres.

As to liking each other, if it were not for this thing most simply refer to as blood, well, I'll let the forum members make up their mind.
