The full page article in the new edition talks about inappropriate placement of sat nav equipment, particularly when mounted to the driver's right, next to the A-pillar:

Road safety campaigner Paul Smith of Safe Speed (www.safespeed.org.uk) shares Bike's concerns. 'Satellite navigation itself is not automatically a problem. Listening to voice instructions is certainly better than trying to read a map on your lap. Positioning it in your line of sight so that it effectively extends the width of the A-pillar is,' he says.

Not the best bit of journalism they've done, TBH. Some hints to riders to help them spot these potential SMIDSYs would have been helpful. It's all very well saying "THIS IS DANGEROUS!!". They should be giving real-world riders advice to help them deal with it. They obviously feel it's within their remit as they have a 'Riding Clinic' segment every month.[/i]

the way the picture was taken, it looks like the driver is sat on the floor, the display isn't big enough to cover up the whole bike and rider either.
