Ooh! I'm famous! I decided my findings with regard to that road bridge, and the unfair castigation of motorists who are seemingly blamed for the casualties there, were worthy of being brought to the attention of the Council Tax paying public. So I sent in my story.
I got a call from a journalist covering Twyford, Berks to say they were going to run a story. I thought it might be a short column on page 10, but no - it's front page news!
I said they could print my name, if they added that I was not on a campaign against the children who cross that road, but a campaign to identify the real causes of accidents at this roundabout, with a view to the council taking steps to improve the situation by alerting pedestrians to the hazards of crossing the A4, instead of targeting motorists with a "speed kills" campaign, where speed is clearly not the issue. I am satisfied the newspaper complied with my wishes.
