What are the implications for future driver training if this poll tax on wheels goes ahead?

If instructors are billed by the mile, higher rates at peak times etc, new drivers will not get any training on busy roads, peak times etc, unless they pay a hefty price for the privilege. Result - reduced skills of new drivers.

The DSA (Double, sorry Driving Standards Agency) will need to revise all test routes to ensure every route from a test centre carries an identical charge or how will the ADI know what to bill the pupil?

Only solution I can see (other than scrap the whole plan :D ) would be to exempt driver training vehicles from charges when used for training, or travelling to next lesson.

Just as the ABD slogan says, "Dont let them drive you off the road"

Perhaps the answer might be to get totally off road vehicles and drive off road .After all if there isn't a road -how can they charge you ??

They have not said how much, or who will pay and who won't.
The idea has been mooted to gather some idea of the reactions that people will have, it may be that the charge will be restricted to those driving within town limits, or only motorways and duals.
Trucks may be zero rated, so may doctors and so may all public servants etc.
You need to get your head around things....this country is in advance of the rest of the EU in putting the idea out....but the rest will follow fast enough...it just needs to be decided what people will put-up with...what the various govs will try to load us with....it'll start with new cars first, because the gear can be installed in the production run. Then in cars up to 5 years old (etc)...and then...who knows.
With a brand new satellite system being launched (the first sat is already being tested...then the rest will go up fast) you can be certain that the idea is going to happen....when is another thing...
