Well Gents, speaking seriously as a caravaner...... I DON'T think that this: "TOP GEAR" type of attitude, rampant here is helpful.
I was recently traveling at 80mph, middle lane, just after overtaking, caravan in tow..........light traffic.......No -one in the outside lane, no probs!
In rear view mirror a "people carrier" approaches at a speed considerably MORE than my 80 mph. I think, ah! No problem, no-one about, he has PLENTY of room in the 3rd lane to overtake, (empty for miles) so I stayed there.......
He SCREAMED BY and MISSED MY Front wing by about 2 inches as he pulled back in for NO reason as he passed! Obviously to tell me that in HIS opinion "I" shouldn't be in the centre lane..
The Guy was fully loaded for his holiday with his wife and two kids in the back who enjoying the "game" that their father had begun began laughing and giving me the "two finger salute" from the rear seats as I was then only a matter of feet from their back bumper with the added weight of a caravan behind me.
In THIS situation there is obviously NO possibility of my stopping suddenly if HE had to, and ALL his family would end up dead.
HE of course, would blame the man with the caravan behind.....

or the news that day would have read: "Caravan overturns on Motorway...silly caravaner at fault".......
It's TIME for this; juvenile "Top Gear" [take the piss attitude] to STOP!
It's Dangerous!...........
Caravans need more SPACE in front to stop.......taking their front wing off as you pass by is just plain stupid. STILL, if you only value your loved ones so litle then carry on.
Caravans are limited to 60 mph by law in the UK.....OK, I have travelled Europe at a constant 80 mph for decades without the merest hint of a problem and still do. Now YOU are limited to 70 mph in Britain, so "I" should be leaving YOU behind! What's your problem? Can't keep it up?....
Don't blame the caravaner, like YOU, they are restricted, it's STUPID I know, there is NO reason why 70 mph (like MOST caravaners do) should not be the norm! They are under THREAT just like you, to stay at 60!
Let me tell you........100mph is quite safe in the right conditions with a caravan for short distances. I've done 8o+ for hundreds of miles at a time over decades of travel in Europe. Right car, right caravan......right loading! I've hit 110 mph on the right brief occasions....
.....and the next time I see that prat in the people carrier, I'm going to ram the silly T*at!......
Oh! and the main reason why caravaners DON'T move back in to the first lane is! YOU B's! won't let them back out again when they need to! YOU speed up to block 'em from coming out!
Don't believe me? you try taking a trailer on the motorway sometime.....
Every motorist should be MADE to in order to see what it's like!
I guarantee that you'll come out with a different opinion of your fellow motorist!...........
I stopped caravaning in the UK many years ago. Except for visiting friends I always head for the nearest port so that I don't upset you types too much....
Enjoy the UK, if you can..............I'm off else where!
