Well, it's now 14 days and no NIP. I take it, if it doesn't arrive by Tuesday, I'm in the clear??
Quite possibly

Assuming you are the RK

and not in a leased/ hired car...

Well, after a long hard week at work (in Birmingham), I was driving back towards Leamington Spa taking a road that I have used for years - a nice dual carrigeway with a speed limit of..........50mph...........With my mind on the weekend ahead and driving in an auto pilot like state I completely forgot about my speed - cruising at a speedy 60mph (that's the speedo reading, the Sat Nav records about 56/57mph). Went straight through a Trulevo speed camera. Thing is, I know it's there, just forgot to check the speedo before hand... I realised my error as soon as I had crossed over the 3 white lines in the road.
My question is, what tolerance do you think these things are set to? Also, what are the odds of there being film in it?
This has really ruined my weekend now!!!!
Sadly - I think this is the very type who all too often falls foul to the automated cam.

Not dangerous - more the "unfelt "creep up" which we know happens and perhaps why the Mad Cats became so anti-scam when they noted this occurring amongst folk they work with.

If you'd done this around here - I think sheer observation of the driving style would have leaned more towards a more discretionary dealing.

We do tend to try to educate more and punish if no other alternative - but even if enforcing the law - we still think a person may benefit from advice as to how to avoid such "trauma" in future

I do not know if this area has an active Speed Aware course in place already. At this margin - you would qualify in some areas but not all as they currently stand.

(Assuming worst outcome here).
They are supposed to be being rolled out across all 43 forces - and yep - it seems, from the blurbs, we can offer this remedy in addition to already existing DIS. (We do have cams.. only ours are mobile in all the cars in the fleet

). I think they plan to harmonise so that all pay the same and receive the same input too.
From your post - I think an example as to how automation can fall down as folk will settle to what they feel a comfy cruise and forget about a scam. It's another example though as to the real failings as folk will be speeding above the lolly - safely .. know the scam is there .. or see the scam and
check the speedoIn all honesty - we all do. I do if in a scam infest zone

and I CAN FEEL and JUDGE as speed pretty darned accurately. It sounds like I am boasting. But .. errr.. I've had a long career to date. Had the full benefit of a Hendon course in its dizzy standard setting hey day..

and I was taught by a very strict but fair instructor at the time who told me to "forget the track day psyche" and really LEARN to drive
properly
, He was a bt of a "tartar"

as I fondly recall (shudder

)
But all the same - I think you see a camera and you will check your speed automatically. I think this explains why so many still brake even if driving at a very legal and compliant speed too

I honestly do not know if this phenomenum is basic distrust of a machine versus a human being
I do not doubt the driving was safe and I do think you are still a COAST driver, from the sheer worry and "self-reproach" wafting across in your post.
However, might I suggest buying a Road Angel or setting the cruise control in scam zone? The bleeps do bring back to reality check and assist in training to "feel speed" more acutely. Let's just say that if you set a cruiser to 30 mph and just drive for say 5 miles on a 5 mile 30 mph stretch or a track lap even

and get used to it.. you then are more on the ball with regard to a 40 mph as it "feels faster"

The Swiss family and myself do use track days to practise driving at very slow speeds as well as blowing out some cobwebs

Track days are not just about "hooning it up". Some do use them to develop skills here
Ultimate boys' own birthday presie ict=man.
For your cash - you get a lesson in rally driving .. and some time to experiment and develop expertise in various fast and slow cars there
Or another present to yourself - seek out an IAM Observation Meet and hone and tone them "feely skills"
By the way

and hope I've soothed and helped a bit.
PS - if you are unlucky.. the good news is that insurers now accept 3 points as "normal" and many do not penalise now,.:roll;
My stance? I reckon I should have a better discount for never getting any points since passing test at age 17.
I have trigged speed traps in course of duty of course though

Sometimes deliberately when we've been testing and sometimes when on a shout in the past
