Indeed.
I do not want folk to brake in panic when we loom up on full blues/twos. I want them to be looking ahead - using COAST and
creating and space and assisting our overtakes as safely as possible.
We do not expect someone to break laws either. We have that exemption when on an emergency shout and a hell of a lot of taxpayers' cash has been invested in training us to cope in such situations.
Unfortunately - folk jump out of their skins at times and start panicking.

I do not know if they think we will fine them for not "jumping to attention" or something.
My advice - keep calm. Do
not break the law or compromise any safety for yourselves.
Create a Space .. that gap for us to move into on an overtake - which simply means "assisting a normal overtake situation" in real common sense terms.

If you are at a red light. Don't panic or go through the light. We have the woo-woos .. and the big flashing lights and we can around -
only and
only if it is SAFE for us to do so and will not cause further bother.

i treat coppers like anyone else. if you are joining the carriageway i will give a flash, if you are trying to overtake i will give you a couple of left winks (quick indicator) and if you have the blues and twos on i will pull as far left as i can with a left indicator on and wave you past if needs be (i can see further). generally all of these actions provokes a thanks of some kind whether it be a wave, a few flashes of blues or indicators etc. a bit of mutual respect and understanding goes a long way
