I know how you feel! Our Council doesn't allow twin axle trailers into the tip anymore - which is a pity as I only have one trailer and it happens to have two axles! It doesn't matter whether it's 2 two tons of junk or 2 empty beer cans, I can't take that trailer through the gates! I've been thinking of making some sort of quick-release mechanism for one of the axles, but fortunately my mate has just bought a single axle trailer so I borrow his for runs to the tip and he borrows mine for heavy work. Of course, I'm at perfect liberty to take the seats out of my MPV and make 15 separate trips if i want - apparently that's better for the environment
Still I guess I shouldn't be surprised. This is the same council (Copeland!) that, a few years ago, gave us all two new wheelie bins. A black one for household waste and a brown one for garden waste. When I rang them to ask what I was supposed to do with the original, (perfectly serviceable), grey wheelie bin, I was told to "just take it down to the tip if it was no use to me"!
