Ok .. so realistically I need to replace Wildy's car with a turbo-charged nuke powered bus. Her car is now 3 years old and we replace at this point,

I do not think Wildy will go for the "panoramic glass" ,, but perked up when I said we may consider this as a "fun impractical" . ,, but selling the VW people carrier in favour of a bigger bus or people carrier to offset the "fun car" for her

But we'll see

Being a driver of the aforesaid breed, I heartily concur. There is no finer beast in which to journey! :)

Pity our leader, GB...doesn't think so. For he seems hell bent on destroying the Company.....:(

Cos she does a lot of miles to get to and from work when she's working. Lots of journeys south to the HO base as and when too.

Then the odd trek to her HO abroad ..

For the family at large as it now happens to be - we need a turbo charged bus  We are looking around for one.

Yep.. we like our kids .. but we now have way too many and folk now say NOPE :yikes: to babysitting our two "villains" called Lukas and Andrew

The Moggies, wild or otherwise, can and should replace their vehicle as and when they see fit. It is none of anyone else's business. :bounce1:

Ah .. but in fairness to the Mad Lad.. (who is one of a family unit of 8 "misfits" - and I've met the whole ruddy lot of 'em but will make a personal comment that I think his sisters (Jazz and Julia) are just calming balm.. to him and his wife in their current "angst"
over life at large to them"

Both his sisters go pale when Ted/wife/ME or any of us get into the car with them  Jazz has said to our faces that..

she dreads our visits to her as she feels "inadequate" despite her IAM qualifacation . But the woman's steady and secure in realistic safety terms. I think Claire may well confirm as she did meet Jazz. I was hoping to join them at the "Milano"restaurant . that night .. . but ended up being co-erced to some other plod thing. Jazz was disappointed as she felt "at one with Claire on many issues . but unable to talk "driving at the same intense level of sheer expertise. Jazz is 100% womankind. Clever but no petrolhead - like us!

I think a different era. Today . .we need to be everywhere \five minutes ago.". Ted likes to take his family out and about as a united group. They do live "off the beaten track by their own choice" though . and I can understand why they would want to "escape" - as they do live a very "intense professional life and family life".

He need some mode of transport to get all of them from A-B. He cannot do so on a bike. Wildy has not the stamina to do this on a bike. She's just too poorly to do so. dcb . WIldy is back in hospital for tests. and we are worried for her. The Mad Cats are playing it down.. but we we all worry just the same.

He has a Jag Estate. She has a high mileage sporty Jag .. which is not as practical as Ted's version of that beast.

They have a VW people carrier which does not cater in reality .. which is why they are now considering a "ruddy bus"

Now OK .. they do not need to foster other kids. but they do. . and this is to their credit as they HELP society by doing so,

I could not do what they do. But they still merit a really deserved pat on the back for at least trying to do what they can.

I think we can forgive their buoyant bubbling over a really nice Jag on that basis somehow? Eh . mate? And dcb.. we (three) all agree on many things with you We. may disagree on others. but where we may disagree on this and that . we still respect your views. I am saying then . do not judge the Mad Cats over harshly over their love of fast cars and "wants" - -

and ., breathe . and ... remember that that pair just adore and get excited over nice cars  You will never change them no matter how many buckets of cold water you pour over the pair of 'em  :bunker:

In Gear. I didn't mean to pour cold water and what we spend our money on is our own choice. (I am currently drooling over a catalogues of telescopes).

My serious argument is against the idea that we need motor cars. We don't. Most of us choose lifestyles that can only be conducted if we own a motor car but that is a concious choice, not a necessity. A fair number of people lead a fulfilled life without a motor car and a lot more could do the same if society wasn't organised around the premise that every one owns a car.

Only it does. Jobs. economy .. etc.

We have "out of town" shopping malls... and I know I can shop on-line .. but they delivered rotten food once and we had to "dine out". OK . they refunded and replaced.. but Alice (my own wife) could not cook the roast . as ordered as a result - and we had to USE the car to go out to EAT at further expense to us as a result :furious:

Many jobs recruit folk outside locality and rely on "car ownership" for employee to "get to work

I admit .. I bike on occasion .. but drive when | have to.

The Mad Cats each face 50-100 and more miles to get to and from work... dependent on what they are expected to do here. He HO . is in Herts and Basel respectively  He can be anwhere within NW .

Oh I agree with you. We do not recruit from immediate localities .. nor do we rpvide adequate moving expenses  to the lower paid - but PROMISING all the same

Dcb,. we ain't the "enemy" even if we occasionally do not see eye to eye as a trio.

I do see and agree with you on many a post. The Mad Cats may "attack" .. but they are only trying to "tease more out of you . to develop"./.

I am saying that if we do disagree on this and that would be rare for me ) .. do not ever take it personally. I think too may do do so :popcorn(: I cannot work out why though

Yes. I know BOTH Ted and Vrenchen can defend accordingly . but she's undergoing tests in hospital and he's over-anxious for her

Why replace at 3 years? What's wrong with the existing car?

Waste.

It's done a few years more than its age in mileage  It's been superseded by a "greener and leaner vehicle" Wildy's earned that car in real terms

And yes . I really do need to replace current people carrier with something which can carry two more chidren too plus all the others .. ye gods :yikes: .

And before any one person "lurk or whatever" startss off on one ..
.. all our kids will pay yours and our pensions umpteen times over from age 22 -25 years onwards till own retirements .,.dependent on their career choices. We motivate and encourage them. We do not decide for them,. Whatever they do with the educational opportunities we give to them out of pure love and concern .. is really up to them.. as our decisions in life were .. and I admit our respective parents backed us in the same way we back our own kids.

Because you criticised them for it by asking why it was realistic.

Why do some people think that everyone else should prevented from doing something because they do not like it or cannot do it themselves?

Read my signature line.

DCB: do you have a car? I presume not...

MM: I'd have the new Jag XF!

I have read your signature line many times and still fail to understand why you disapprove of the prohibition of murder, rape, burglary and non consensual incest.

However, in this case, I am not suggesting that the Moggies should be prevented from buying a new vehicle or of doing anything else that is legal. But I am perfectly entitled to express my disapproval of any example of unnecessary conspicuous consumption.

The last sentence explains why I do have a car. But it is always my fifth choice of transport after cycling, walking, bus and train. And my car is eighteen years old and will only be replaced when it becomes unmaintainable.
