Wasn't Decca a kind of low frequency navigation system used by fishermen before GPS?

My recollection of DECCA was that it was a RDF(radio direction finding system) system - to triangulate on a burst of frequency . It ( from memory) was also used to locate certain danger markers .Certainly LF -the radio systems in those days were in the lower Mhz band ,as was the lifeboat frequencies - the introduction of VHF ( to communicate with air sea rescue was a distinct novelty ,as I remember).

I have a mate who left the TV side of the business ,to work for Decca Radar over in Iran, back in the late seventies, I will ask him more about it next time I get a chance to.

Getting back to the funnies though....

After spending much time on this puzzling over which is best I decided that I would do a 3 - 2 - 1 ...
(I marked each one out of 10. There were many 8's a few 9's ! So it was all very close !)
