Just as Paul always said the trend of KSI would be less if the camera enforcement program had not happened .... this independent report proves this accurate. See http://www.safespeed.org.uk/fatality.html

Interesting! It's nice to see what a well-resourced group can come up with when time and funds permit! Still, when I tried to post a similar graph of the Cumbian statistics, I was denounced as a "rank amateur" by a certain SCPophile  so I suppose these guys are too?!

Only thing I WOULD say, is that if we follow their blue line, we wouldn't expect there to be ANY KSIs by about 2013 - and thereafter, I can only presume that cars will actually start creating new life as we start seeing negative numbers of KSIs!! I think it's pretty obvious that their blue dotted line is NOT the long term trend. What IS interesting, is the coincidence in timing. I would imagine the blue dotted (or indeed any) line, ought to be more exponential in shape - tending to, but never actually reaching, zero. For me, the only remarkable bit is that the actual figures very suddenly (and coincidentally) levelled off for a time around the time cameras were introduced. I think, the furthest I can go is to say that cameras have made little difference one way or the other. Of course, if every SCP had a "Swindon moment" tomorrow and for the next (say) 3 years we suddenly saw a return to the previous trend in the KSI rate, nationally, I'd be happy to eat those words!

The curve is actually exponential, but they're only showing a small part of it, so the part we see appears straight.
But yes, that could have been presented better. I think that's a bit of an own goal :(

Safe Speed's one is done properly :D
