WARNING ON ID CARDS!"
Terrorists can dodge the ID system warns a security expert. A 10% failure in matching IDs to cards is predicted. says Simon Davies of watchdog "Privacy"
With open borders anyone can steal or forge an ID card from another country which cannot be checked by officials in this country. (
This is true - Has always occurred - their press has always contained such stories
Foreign members of this family have always commented on this for as long as I can remember!
"Terrorists will travel on tourist visas as well and will not be caught out by cards "- says Mr Davies.
The Gov thinks they will be infallible - but Mr Davies says it is not fail safe if all you have to do is carry a fake EU identity card and speak with funny accent (OI! Funny accent! He's describing half this family here!

)
The Commons Home Affairs Select Committee (per articles in press) condemned plan for biometric cards - containing information such as fingerprints and iris scans as "improperly costed, poorly thought out and too secretive!"
Mr Davies - who gave evidence to this committee - said "There are too many ways that this system can be by-passed. It cannot be made water tight and will not catch the very folk it is meant to catch!
"There is a one in ten chance of failure to match an ID. It relies on technology working (NOTE basingwerk

), and people being trained to actually use it and for the communications systems to be actually working! (
note - basingwerk
"If it only works 90% of time - it is non-starter!"
It gets better!
Mr Davies says:
"Such systems are vulnerable to criminals (Yup

)and terrorists who will steal real identities and fake them as well as official corruption
"Many terrorists enter on tourist visas so ID cards will not stop them. They will not be required to present ID and with open EU borders (and they do not even check in Switzerland) - all you need is fake EU card and authorities will have no way of checking French, German, Italian ID cards either.
Liberal MP Lembit Opik said:
"To sidestep any ID legislation - you pretend you are not British and the law abiders will
spend (aha!) their money to prove they are who they say they are. If mr Blunkitt thinks this will stop terrorists and criminals - he must think world ends at Dover!"
