Yet another whitewash, going on about how speed kills etc etc.
Switch on and be prepared to fume.

It upsets me too much. I used to watch a "police" thing on M&M until they came out with the BS that 40% of accidents are caused by speeding..... :x

I agree with you. What do the examples shown have to do with normal law-abiding driving?

Caught some of this - couldn't be bothered to turn over while eating my kebab (which nearly ended up being chucked at the screen).

The chase of the car down the narrow country road that forced the other car of the road - to me it looked like the other car had pulled over in a marked passing place.

The car that turned its lights off. I'm sure that as the car came back into view there were lights on the road surface ahead of the car, maybe a switch to turn back lights off.

I really enjoy being preached to by the high and mighty (especially when they have been convicted twice for drink driving).

Slightly off topic - but I just saw the " :30: for a reason " advert. Apparently, 80% will SURVIVE when hit at 30.....changing their tune a bit aren't they, wasn't it only months ago that you had to be doing 20 to get good survivability figures this good.

I’ve been hearing so much about how “Speed Kills” it’s set me wondering.
There was I thinking that “movement”, or to put it another way, “getting from (a) to (b)”, was an innocent, beneficial, every-day activity which was essential for human beings to function. But now that activity has been re-named “speed”, it seems I was wrong all along - it’s a nasty, anti-social and potentially dangerous habit, and it’s got so bad that they’ve had to install hundreds of cameras to catch us “at it”.

And what’s more, following the same reasoning, I’ve realised that there’s more so-called ’normal’ activities that need watching.
Just think of all the fatalities every year caused by fires. And what causes fires? Heat! Yes! You thought your mum or your wife cooking your chips or burgers at tea-time was doing you a favour. Not a bit of it! She is in fact irresponsibly exposing herself and the rest of the family to a potentially lethal force. And the more heat she applies to the burgers, the worse it is! I think it’s time we cut back on our fire services and instead get heat detector vans out on the streets to target and fine the worst offenders. Then we can look forward to “Heat Kills” campaigns and programmes like “Police! Action! Cooking!” to put the fear of god into us.

Reading over the above, I’m now a bit worried - it might give the Brunstroms of this world ideas!

One of the things that annoys me about 'that' advert is that the road featured with the parked cars and narrow passing points wouldn't be safe at more than about 15 - 20mph.

driving 30 on that road would be totally unsafe!

I love watching the American shows when they get all exited about someone driving at 80mph on a freeway.

Notice the heading - seems we only get action when there's a camera involved

Loved the pair of chavs in a stolen vehicle being followed by police car and helicopter, doing 100mph through a village and hitting someone at a junction, whereupon we were told "this shows why it's important to stick to 30.....".
And the bike that was (in tones of horror and indignation) "doing over 100m.p.h.!!!!!" In broad daylight, on a deserted motorway with visibility ahead almost to the horizon, not a slip road in sight and a rider who is obviously capable of riding at that speed- so what?

"Speed Kills" is a meaningless soundbite. Without speed, all vehicles would be stationary and would therefore never crash. It's like saying "Birth Kills" since if you're never born, you can't die.

It's about time they dropped this ridiculous motto - "Speed Kills" is doing the pro-camera lobby no favours whatsoever. All it does is insult peoples' intelligence.

The "Think" slogan is better.

I know, we just think it's normal. 80 on a freeway? They'd s**t themselves on the B roads then!!

[dumbass naration] "With only 12 inches to spare, this maniac hurtles down this country road at over 60 miles per hour, towards oncoming traffic - themselves doing nearly the same speed. They are both lucky to escape with their lives on these narrow roads!" [/dumbass naration]

....that'll be the daily commute to work then
