Interestingly they have this to say...

OK so no actual figures are presented (there are some in the print version of the paper) but it seems like driver response to incidents was aided by an overall reduction in speed.
Elsewhere in the paper they printed of few of the pathetic excuses people had given after being caught driving badly.
"I was running out of petrol"
"I couldn't see the crossing because of the people in the road"
Does this suggest that folks really don't take the process of driving as seriously as they should?
