Bully-boy clamper lived a life of luxury
A NOTORIOUS criminal car-clamper who plagued motorists lived an astonishing life of luxury after making up to half a million pounds from his victims.
Gordon Miller wore a £3,000 Rolex watch, drove an expensive Mercedes convertible and owned a string of properties while bullying cash out of Portsmouth motorists. Police believe Miller made an incredible £529,683 through criminal activities.
The 40-year-old's main tactic was to threaten motorists he had clamped and refuse to let them go until they had paid extortionate amounts of cash.
The staggering estimate of Miller's wealth came out at a three-day court hearing at Portsmouth Crown Court which was set up to decide how much of his money should be paid back.
The clamper, who was jailed after being convicted of seven counts of blackmail, is believed to have £253,410 worth of 'realisable assets', including his homes, car and watch, which could be seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
The confiscation hearing was adjourned for Recorder Jeremy Stuart-Smith QC to consider the evidence. He will return at a later date to rule on how much money Miller made through criminal activity and how much he should pay back.
